Scars

A scar is normally observed as a mark on the skin after a wound or injury has healed. It is not possible to remove a scar, but they will normally fade over time. Scars can be categorised as fine line, atrophic, keloid, hypertrophic and contracture. They can be many different colours including pink, red, purple, white, brown, skin coloured or darker than the skin surrounding it. They can also be itchy or even painful in nature. Scars are often raised relative to the surrounding skin (fine line scar) or may exist as a deep, small hole or a slightly larger sunken mark (atrophic – commonly observed after acne or chickenpox/shingles). Contracture scars typically develop after a burn and can make the skin feel tight.

Here at Nativis, we have developed a range of Skincare products to help fade and level the skin around the scar region. The products are 100% natural in composition, and all contain a natural active ingredient derived from Sericin which we have called Silk Hydra-Fix^©. This active ingredient deeply hydrates and moisturises the skin. Certain amino acids within the natural active ingredient are also widely acknowledged to regulate melanin production in the skin, giving a more even skin tone to the scarred region. We recommend the use of our Silk Hydra-Fix^© Moisturising Cream to improve the appearance and reduce the distortion observed on the skin surface as a result of scarring. It should also relieve any itching or inflammatory sensation felt at the scar site. Positive results should be observed using the Moisturising Cream after 3-4 weeks and should improve significantly with continued use.

Directions for Use - Hydrate and Moisturise the Skin Apply the Moisturising Cream to the affected area by gently massaging in with fingers until fully absorbed. Repeat this procedure morning and night and after bathing and exercise. The cream is long lasting and does not need to be reapplied at regular intervals throughout the day. The cream can be reapplied whenever necessary to alleviate any itching or inflammatory sensation that might develop through the daytime/night time.

Repeat above procedure daily (morning and night) for best results. Improvements should be seen within 3-4 weeks with skin tone around and on the scar site evening out. The raised/pitted nature of the scar should also begin to even out relative to the surrounding skin region. Continued regular daily use of the Moisturising Cream should further improve appearance over time and will also maintain the skin in a well hydrated and moisturised condition. If venturing outside in warm, sunny weather for extended periods, covering the scar region with a clean, soft plaster will protect the scar site from drying out and darkening in colour.
