We realised that the key to maintaining the remarkable hydrating and moisturising properties of sericin was to develop an extraction process that minimises damage to its complex structure. Once this had been achieved, we then set about formulating a range of skin and hair care products using this extract and natural ingredients that were effective at giving relief to, and management of, a wide range of skin conditions which cause discomfort to people of all ages.
Our products have been developed over a period of six years through in-house research and anecdotal trials with willing people suffering from conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis and rosacea in particular. Through continued development and improvement of our products, largely driven by the observations of our willing participants, we now have a product range that we are confident offers relief and management of these conditions.
Our vision is to help people manage and overcome some of the many skin conditions that affect and disrupt quality of life, confidence and outlook. We believe that we can contribute to this through the products we have developed, and the detailed guidance offered in their use.
Dehydration of the skin is often the precursor to inflammation, irritation and development of skin conditions. By addressing dehydration through the use of Nativis products, skin conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis and rosacea can be brought under control. It is important to maintain good skin hydration at all times to minimise the occurrence of flare ups and the discomfort and anguish that they often cause.
Nativis are committed to developing products aimed at hydration and moisturisation of the skin, hair and nails. Our focus is to provide this through the use of natural, safe ingredients in our products and by offering sound guidance and advice for their use.
We work closely with our cocoon suppliers to ensure that silkworms are not harmed and can progress through their complete life cycle. Our suppliers harvest the cocoons after they have been spun and the silkworms are then carefully removed and allowed to complete their life cycle. The cocoons we receive are not baked dry as they are in the textile industry. This helps to maintain the natural state of the sericin prior to extraction and preserves its active nature.
None of our formulations are tested on animals.
Our products have been formulated using only natural ingredients. They have been carefully selected for the benefits they bring to skin, nail and hair care. By limiting the ingredients to those that are natural and effective, adverse reactions to our products are minimised. Our formulations are simple, and we are totally transparent regarding the ingredients we use. The preservative system we use throughout our products is natural, beneficial to skin and derived from fruit sources. This reinforces our commitment to using only natural ingredients whilst providing assurance that our products are safe to use. We have been granted a two-year shelf life for our products with a PAO (Period after opening) of one year as a result of stability tests we have had performed (these tests are required by law for water-based products).
We do not incorporate any of the following ingredients into our formulations: Silicone oils or derivatives, petroleum derived ingredients, sodium lauryl sulphate, EDTA, micro-plastics or nanomaterials, parabens, alcohols, fragrances or dyes/colourants.
In order to minimize waste and our carbon footprint, we supply our products in aluminium bottles and jars. These offer maximum protection of our products to ensure that they reach you in perfect condition. It is important to us to use packaging that is recyclable, functional and stylish. We do incorporate plastic dispensing units for our sprays and gels although these also are of a recyclable grade.
Nativis are committed to working with charities that help the homeless and vulnerable members of our society. We participate and contribute towards a wide range of activities to get people back into mainstream society, providing much needed support in areas such as accommodation, physical and mental healthcare.
It is our intention to donate profits from Nativis to these causes whilst maintaining our involvement in these critical services that so many rely upon.
